A Bold Vision

Zuiderpark-Stadswalzone, situated in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands, stands as a testament to innovation and urban revitalization. The project encompasses a multitude of elements aimed at redefining the city’s urban fabric.

Integration and Access

Comprising the restoration of the ancient moat and the establishment of an expansive underground parking garage, the project pushes the boundaries of urban development. Accessible via a spiral ramp located in bastion “Baselaar,” the garage seamlessly integrates with the historical context while offering convenient access to visitors.

Warm Welcome

Upon entering the parking garage, visitors are greeted by a sprawling mural adorned with the word “Welcome,” setting the tone for a warm and inviting experience. Embracing the theme of comfort and safety, the garage’s design prioritizes functionality without compromising aesthetics.

Harmonious Design

The architectural approach incorporates pure materials such as Corten steel, concrete, and wood, echoing the authenticity of the city’s historic fortification wall. This careful selection ensures harmony with the surrounding urban landscape while infusing the project with a timeless appeal.

Journey Through History

The journey through the parking garage is not just about transportation but also about immersion in the city’s rich history. Visitors ascend the main staircase, offering panoramic views of the restored fortification wall and the iconic “Judasbrug” tower.

Art and Storytelling

The integration of art and storytelling within the garage further enriches the visitor experience, offering glimpses into the city’s past and present. From the bustling corridors adorned with art pieces to the footbridge traversing the moat, every aspect of the journey is meticulously curated to engage and inspire.

Recognition and Pride

On July 21, 2015, the parking garage St. Jan was unveiled to the public, marking a significant milestone in urban development. Recognized with the prestigious ESPA Gold award by Vexpan, the project sets a new standard for excellence in urban infrastructure.

A Beacon of Progress

The successful realization of Zuiderpark-Stadswalzone underscores the power of integrated urban planning and design in revitalizing cities. As residents and visitors alike marvel at the seamless blend of history and innovation, the project stands as a beacon of progress and pride for ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
