Located in an 80 sqm former office space within Taipei’s commercial district, FSW Coffee strategically caters to a diverse clientele, including business professionals, local residents, and leisurely hikers. Unlike conventional coffee shops, the design aims to blend quick-serving convenience with the allure of an on-site roastery and an exclusive invite-only space, catering to varied preferences and paces of visitors.
Spatial Configuration
The layout revolves around creating distinct zones while embracing the surrounding environment. A semi-open standing bar at the storefront invites quick sips, while adjacent seating areas encourage relaxed enjoyment. The design capitalizes on natural light and airflow, minimizing enclosed spaces to reduce the need for artificial cooling. A takeaway window adds convenience for passersby, enhancing the café’s accessibility.
Innovative Design Interventions
To address the client’s need for privacy without compromising visibility, the architects employed polycarbonate panels framed with painted steel, serving as spatial dividers and light diffusers.
