Materiality and Symbolism
Constructed primarily from concrete and bricks, the Nurul Yaqin Mosque features minimalist Islamic ornamentation, with the 99 names of God laser-cut into stainless-steel air vents. The use of blue terrazzo flooring symbolizes the connection between the mosque and the surrounding water, emphasizing the importance of harmony with the environment.
Interior Design and Functionality
The prayer hall, supported by ornamental pillars, eschews traditional windows in favor of natural ventilation, fostering a sense of openness and connection to the elements. The mihrab, shaped like a slit, allows natural light to filter through, illuminating the space and guiding worshipers towards Mecca. The seamless terrazzo flooring creates the illusion of an endless expanse, evoking a sense of spiritual transcendence.
